Daily Post 0182: Enjoying the Evening

Standard

Wrote this last night, but went to bed before posting.

It is the end of my night, and finally, for once in what seems like forever, I’m writing before I go to sleep. I have yet to make my to-do list for tomorrow, but I feel like I’ll still be able to do it once I am done writing. I’ll still be awake enough to think that much.

Today has been fairly awesome. Very low key, but nice.

I wasn’t able to fall asleep right away when I got home last night. Of course not… What with having to drive home and clean the kitchen… I was tired, but not enough to pass out like I had hoped.

Zane had stayed up so I could have a hug when I got home, but I sent him to bed not long afterwards. He wants to get into the habit of sleeping normal hours so it will be easy for him to wake up for the interview on Thursday. I can’t arugue with that logic, and sort of felt bad that he had stayed up so late for me.

The issue with the key box was fixed by the time I left school, so I didn’t actually have to wait for security like I had thought. That was a nice surprise.

Anywho, I sat on the couch in the living room enjoying the silence. The lighting was dim since only the kitchen light was on. Everyone was asleep. There’s this hush feeling to the world super late at night. I love being able to experience it. Sitting alone helped me decompress.

I ended up falling asleep on the couch for a little bit. Around 5 in the morning I woke up and went to bed for real. Zane woke up around 8:40. I wasn’t ready to wake up, so we both went back to sleep. It was around 10:30 when I woke up and wasn’t able to go back to sleep.

It was one of those tired wake ups. You’re not ready for the day, but your brain isn’t going to let you stay in bed any longer. I felt heavy. Slow with a ‘meh’ attitude towards pretty much everything.

Person: “How did you sleep?”
Me: “Meh.”

Person: “What do you have planned for today?”
Me: “Meh.”

Person: “Hey, there is a nuclear missile that’s going to hit the apartment in two minutes.”
Me: “Meh.” / rolls over and tries to force sleep to happen

Since it was Friday I had plans to go to my sports bar before work. Zane was ok with me going alone again, so I showered, packed up, and headed out around 11.

I had a new server today, but she was super nice and left me to my work. I didn’t have all that much time to myself since I had to go in for lab at 1, but I was able to get caught up on my writing. I messaged a handful of people on my phone to keep in touch, though I was pretty awful about replying to their replies…

E for effort? >.<;

Once I got to work I got caught up on emails and repling to my WordPress messages. I love you all! Thank you so much for being patient with me. : 3

After all of my social tasks were taken care of I got to work on my certification exercises. They were pretty easy and I flew through chapters two and three. I worked on my digital painting for a bit. It’s pretty much done. Maybe another hour. I want to add in more high lights on the face of the dragon, and I still need to color the mouth and tongue. So maybe less than an hour. But yeah, I like what I was able to do.

At 4pm I left lab a little early, with Frank’s ok, to go to the PCC critiques. I haven’t been to one in months. Monica took over running them for me, so I felt like a bit of an outsider. I’m not very close with any of the setup students any longer. All of ‘my’ students have graduated. So it was a little awkward for me, but it was still nice to be there.

At the end though I was spent and so ready to come back home. Kickboxing was supposed to happen at 5:45, but at 5:20 I didn’t think I had it in me to do it. Instead I took a two hour nap with Zane.

We agreed before going to sleep that we would go to the store together. There was left over chicken breast from the curry last night so we were going to do chicken sandwiches again. Those things are soooo incredibly good. We needed bread and spinach for it, and we went ahead and got pepper jack cheese, too. Splurging on a Friday night.

While Zane was cooking the chicken I worked more on my certification and got through chapter four. We started watching Ergo Proxy while we ate. Holy crap is that an amazing anime. I am totally hooked, to the point where I was basically begging to watch the next episode when the first one ended.

When the second one ended Zane asked if I wanted to go work more, because I had mentioned wanting to complete another chapter before we had started eating. I thought about it for a minute then said no. I wanted to watch a third episode because on my to do list I had added “Enjoy the evening,” so I was going to do it damn it!

And I did. I really am captivated by the storyline and the art style, and animation style is very unique. In a way it reminds me of Attack on Titan. I highly recommend checking it out if creepy, dark, “What the f? My mind is blown,” type animas are your thing. : D

After the third episode we both decided to call the night. I cleaned up the kitchen, set the dishwasher to run, then came back to the room where I finished chapter 8 of my certification. Yeah… I know I jumped around, but that’s the rigging section, and since my focus is in character rigging I figured I would blow through that section. Which I did. So now I only have 4 more sections to go through in total. I’m actually really enjoying the exercises so far. I’m glad I decided to do this testing.

It makes me a bit motivated to get back into podcasting, because there were a few things in the camera and lighting sections that I had not really forgotten, but I guess had gotten sort of fuzzy on? Rereading about certain things was good for me, and since all of the information deals with the Shading and Lighting class that I’m helping out in I feel a bit more competent. The podcasts the class uses are super old, so it would be good to go through and recreate them in a newer version of the software so the interface at least looks the same.

So that may happen at some point.

I went through all of my Spotify Weekly Discovery list again. There were a handful of good songs. I also went through and cleaned up my email folders, download folder, and Dropbox. Currently the trashcan is emptying, so that should be done within the hour.

I’ll be in bed before then, but it’s nice to know that I’ve done pretty much everything I had wanted to do today. I might not make my to do list now that I’m at the end of my writing. I’m most likely not going to post this until the morning either, but at least I did it, and I can rest knowing that I have closure to my day.

It was a good day. I hope tomorrow isn’t as crazy as I feel like it’s going to be.
