Monthly Memento 00: January

Standard

The first month of 2015, and already it is at an end. Where did time go? What have I done this past month?

My first, knee jerk reaction is, “I didn’t do anything. I was a slacker. I’m a terrible person. A failure. Woe is me, and the rest of my life.”

But I know that’s not true.

Just looking  back at this past week, only seven days, I have done so much. And the other three weeks that made up my month were just as full.

That voice in my head, reprimanding me for ‘not doing enough’ can shove off. I did amazing, and this blog proves that to me everyday.

I am happy to say that I met all four of my base goals for my resolutions. Those goals will be marked with an ‘*’.

Everything else is just icing on the cake and extra stuff that I was able to take care of.

I did fantastic this month.

No, I didn’t get through everything that I wanted to.

But I got through most of it, and a crap ton of stuff that wasn’t even a factor when I was first making my goals for 2015, and the month of January.

Here’s looking towards February and another month of awesomeness.

  1. I started a journal at work. I’d like to start a blog about how awesome I am at my job, but there’s a whole confidentiality thing surrounding that idea. I’m not sure how legal it would be to publish my company’s secrets. But I made the secret things, so don’t I have some ownership over them? I’m sure a judge would say no, so I’m stuck being amazing in a corner where no one really understands how brilliant I am. Oh, woe to me!

    • I’m sure I say more about my work than I’m supposed to. And I suppose part of me should care, but I honestly can’t bring myself to.

I need this outlet. It’s not like I’m divulging company secrets, or posting student grades online. I’m being honest about my day and interactions with people.

Like with how we need to hire more people. I’m just being honest and admitting to what a lot of people are sweeping under the rug and treating as a ‘non-topic’.

Maybe if you didn’t use real names or kept the posts ‘vague-ish’ it could work? Sort of like bending the rules instead of breaking them?

I would hate for you to feel like you can’t write about something.

      • It’s refreshing to read the details of your day. There isn’t anything you don’t write about and it makes me want to write that much more. I’ve considered coming up with some kind of code, but I can’t bring myself to put that much effort into it. I’m still mulling it over.
