So I’ve been mindlessly scrolling through Facefail, when really I should have written this and gone to bed. Oh Internet…
Today was pretty freakin’ awesome if I do say so myself.
Woke up on my own, no alarm, no hammers and saws. It was bliss. Was totally rested and ready for the first day back to labs.
I made a few posts on here and Facebook.
I’ve picked the characters I’m going to rig for my new reel and I made it public along with some other goals. So fun stuff. And I’m pretty stoked to start working on those projects.
I checked out the gym classes and saw there was one at noon that I could catch. A strength class even, though it was at a Y that I don’t normally go to.
When the time came, I changed into workout cloths and headed out, totally set on doing this class.
Of course when I got there things had been moved around, and then I became crazy shy and nervous. When I looked into the fitness room people had a ton of equipment, and I didn’t know anyone…
So I didn’t do the class… but I did a pretty good workout on the elliptical and I biked again. So it wasn’t a bust. I even got to relax in the sauna afterwards. So it was good in my book.
Maybe next time I won’t chicken out.
After the gym I came home, showered, then went out to do laundry. Yay clean cloths.
By then I had enough time to drop my laundry off then get to work.
The first lab was awesome.
This month I’m trying something new. I’m going to be rigging a character with the class, so they can see my workflow and how I address certain issues.
It’s basically doing a demo.
The students don’t have to watch if they don’t want to. But it allowed me to address several questions as a group and I think overall it went really well.
Since there are two labs, I’m rigging two different characters.
I did run into issues with two of the characters I had originally planned to rig. Long story short, the modeler made some mistakes and instead of going and fixing them myself I’m choosing to rig different characters instead.
It’s a faster and much less painful solution.
So I didn’t get through the second character like I had wanted. But I did get all the way to where I wanted to be with the first one. So that’s a good feeling.
Since I am working along with the class it is going to be a slower pace that what I would normally do on my own. So I’ll be able to get the second character to where it needs to be in about an hour, maybe a little over depending on how much slacking I do.
The second CRI1 lab only has 9 people in it, so it’s going to be just me. David gets to ditch early. Though I’m pretty sure since another person in our department has left, that he’ll be pulled to help with the compositing labs. Which sucks because he doesn’t want to be in there. : /
I got to scan my cross stitchings finally, so I’ll most like post them tomorrow.
I emailed Ari at the beginning of the week to see about starting meetings with Donna about the break room project, but I haven’t heard back from her. Which is why I was annoyed when she wanted to get involved with it.
If you’re going to help, then help. Otherwise you’re just holding me back from being able to make progress.
Maybe right now I’m being more spiteful than I normally would because I’m tired. But I don’t think so.
I’m tired of people saying they will do things and then not following through. I don’t want to have to wait on other people to ‘feel’ like working on my project. I can take care of it myself, and I know what the next steps are to move it forward.
Waiting on someone else isn’t it.
Mild frustration, but it can hardly mess up my day.
I’ve been doing really well with eating clean, and I feel fantastic right now.
And since I’ve been rigging most of the night, I have ideas and a roadmap for revamping my scripts which I want to try to do tomorrow. SAL has lab at 9pm, which means I have most of the day to myself, with admin hours starting at 5.
PCC critiques this month are going to be happening on Fridays at 5pm, which is cool and fits perfectly into my schedule. I just made a post in our Facebook group about that, so hopefully students show up. I know at least Tre will be there.
I’ve also started working on my class assignments. There’s some really awesome articles about design. One of the quotes I really like so far is, “Designers are the visual ambassadors of ideas.” That makes my brain warm and fuzzy. : 3
I haven’t started the main project yet, but there’s a lot of sketching due this week, so it will be awesome to get some right brained activity mixed in with all of the coding I hope to do, not to mention all of the rigging to boot.
So yeah, productive day. Totally going to go pass out now.
