Post 0095: Happy Birthday?

Standard

Again, a nice solid number for an important post. Not that this is really all that important, but it’s the post for my birthday. So it is in a way significant.

I like it when things line up like this. It makes some weird part of my brain that I don’t fully understand happy.

Honestly, I forgot that it was the 20th until this morning when I woke up to so many Facebook messages I thought I would drown.

My birthday has never been a big deal since it is so close to Christmas. And the older I’ve gotten, the less I do to celebrate it.

Normally my birthday lands while we are on holiday vacation, so everyone flies home and isn’t around to hang out with. Or they have other plans made. Things like that.

It’s just another day to me.

It’s rainy today. Cool, damp, overcast. Which I don’t mind. Another low day where I can sit in the silence of the living room and stitch by myself. Or read more in my book.

I started reading Buddhism Plan and Simple last night before going to sleep. I like how it is about truth rather than faith. About reality and what is truly happening here and now, rather than the past or future.

To me it seems to be more of a way of being, rather than believing. A way to exist in the world around you, fully, completely. It lines up with a lot of the thoughts that I already naturally have, rather than encouraging me to change to another line of thinking. Which I think is interesting.

I know I am very far from being enlightened, but it makes me wonder if I am closer than most of the people around me. If through my journey of self acceptance if I have already learned some of the Buddha’s lessons.

I won’t get able to do the yard work today since it’s so icky outside. Part of me is bummed about that. But I suppose that means I have more time to stitch and such.

I plan to message Warren #1 in a little bit to see what the game plan is.

I have a message from Jarrett that I need to respond to, and Sammie left me a voice mail while I was sleeping that I need to play.

Not a whole lot has happened other than that.

John got a new tattoo before he left Vegas. He’s going to have a 15 hour layover on his flight so he’s going to see if he can get a hotel room. He made a mention of also getting his tongue pierced, though I don’t know if he actually went through with that. I’ll have to ask him the next chance I get.

I suppose I’m going to go for now. A warm shower would be fantastic. And I haven’t had a cup of coffee in over a week. I think I’m going to run out to Starbucks and get one of their peppermint drinks as a treat. Something warm for my birthday.

And actually, it would be really nice if the plans with Warren work out instead of one of us ditching.

I hadn’t realized it until now, but it would be nice to spend my birthday with him, with a friend, rather than being totally alone. Maybe I can convince him to out of for wings with me.
