Post 0037: Good Day

Standard

That’s really a good summary, right there. Today has been extremely, really, mercifully good; and not just the weather.

When I got home yesterday I pretty much felt like I had been hit by a car door. I could still walk, and I didn’t have a concussion or anything, but man was I sore, everywhere, and the only thing I wanted to do was curl into a ball and not move. So yeah, I wasn’t run over or anything, but I did feel like I had my ass handed to me.

I messaged my dad seeing if it would be cool to try to talk after a little catnap, which he said was fine. He had been kicking around the idea of napping, too. Of course when I got home I wasn’t able to sleep. XD

I made a pb and j sandwich, and messaged John a little bit on Skype. Around 4:30 I was finally able to sleep, and man did I sleep. I woke up a few times and instantly rolled over, telling my brain in a very stern voice that if it didn’t go back to sleep it would regret every part of the decision to keep me awake.

So I slept fairly well until about 3:30 am. Almost a solid 12 hours. When I woke up I was still sort of groggy. Having coffee helped a little, but I was still sort of slow feeling. Heavy. So I went about doing my homework assignments for the week. I’ve gotten through all of the assignments, and now only have the main project to worry about.

We’re recreated a movie poster as vector art. I picked the Gremlins poster. It should be fun. We’re only allowed to use 5 colors (black counts as a color ;-;) and we can’t use gradients or transparency. We can only use solid shapes. It’s going to be a challenge, and definitely interesting.

After that I prepped Joey’s wedding gift. I’m cross-stitching him and Katy the ‘Dragon Love’ cross-stitch with the words “True Love Isn’t Just A Fairy Tale”, with the date of their ceremony. I hope it turns out the way I want it to.

I got all of the threads started for that project as well, and stitched a little bit.

I messaged my dad around 6am to let him know that I had fallen asleep yesterday, but that today I was pretty free, so he could call whenever. He actually responded that early saying that he was going to a few places, then had to get the girls ready for school, so we made plans to talk at 9:30.

At around 8:30 I decided to go running since I haven’t in a few days. It was a good run. Still at one minute intervals. It’s interesting how I have doubled my run time. I used to do 4 intervals of 30 seconds. Now I’m doing four intervals at 1 minute. My shins felt the last interval, but I’m working back up to where I was, and that makes me happy. I’m pretty sure next time I’ll be able to do all my intervals without pain. Then I can increase the number of intervals back up to six I think it was. Maybe it was only five. I don’t remember the c25k regime any more.

I want to be back at 2 minute intervals by the end of the month.

The morning was super nice, cool without being too cold. It’s harder to breathe when the air is super cold. That’s one thing that’s going to make Vegas sort of not cool. It’s really windy out there during the winter, and it is so much colder. The air is so much thinner and colder. It hurts to breathe sometimes. But I’ll worry about that in December. Right now I’m going to focus on kicking ass and taking names here.

I really want to start doing more strength stuff. I know my upper body could sure use some attention. Maybe I’ll do the pushup challenge.

Anyway. Dad called literally right after my last interval. It was the first time ever that I did face time. He looks so much different now. He has a beard. x.x

It’s crazy.

It was a super awesome conversation though. I’m glad I had it away from the apartment. It made it seem more friendly, less invasive. He ended up having a phone call he needed to take, so we agreed to talk more later. I went to school and clocked in, then went back home. I didn’t feel back about it since I had been doing admin stuff off the clock, and I had grading I needed to complete.

I let my phone charge a bit, and then ended up talking to dad more. We talked about the girls a little, and John. He got my cross-stitch, but I guess the frame and glass where literally shattered. Surprisingly the stitching was fine. I have no idea how, but I’m not going to question it. I’ll just keep it in mind for next time to send a gift card to purchase the frame rather than framing it myself. Or send it through UPS instead of the post office.

After talking with dad I got to work on grading. After doing about half of them I took a break to stitch a little, then finished off the grades.

During that time I got notifications that my GR1 homework assignments had been graded (guess I wasn’t the only one catching up on grading XD ). All 100s so far. I’m interested to see what I get on Project 1.

I’ve gotten three comments on my post so far, and they’re all super nice friendly critiques, so that’s nice. These are actual DAD students, so I’m hoping they will be my classmates through the program and I can build some standing with them.

We were only required to reply to two posts, but I’ve replied to five different people. One of them was pretty bad, and the guy said that he felt bad when he compared his work to everyone else’s. That he had struggled a lot with the assignment.

I wrote a pretty lengthy response. I pointed out some things that I felt he could improve on, but a large portion of my response was telling him to not feel bad. That just because he is struggling now, doesn’t mean that he’ll never be able to pick it up. I pointed out a lot of thing he was doing right, and areas where he could improve, and that as long as he was better than he was yesterday, that he’s winning. We’re not his real competition. His past self is who he should be striving to be better than.

I hope my post helps him out. I know self-confidence can be the biggest obstacle.

I was able to get some cooking done today. Cornbread muffins again, since Joshua had a billion boxes of the mix, some Tuna Helper, which is what I’m nomming on right now, and some mac and cheese to go with the pre-seasoned chicken that I cooked the other night.

So I have food for when I wake up crazy early tomorrow. Score!

I didn’t have to go in for SAL today, which is really what made this whole day relaxing and awesome. Aside from talking to my dad, I’ve literally been alone the whole day. It was fantastic.

I know there is more work that I could do. I plan to try to sleep around 9 or 10, which leaves me a few hours.

The dishwasher is going, so the dishes are taken care of. The counters are bleached, Scarlet is fed and watered. She even had tuna, the spoiled thing. I haven’t done laundry, but I most likely won’t unless Joshua comes home. I’m pretty sure you need a key card to get into the building. Though I could text him and find out if that is true. I don’t know how anything works around here anymore. Though honestly I don’t feel like doing laundry right now. I would rather save it for tomorrow.

I need to keep working on the Fish rig for Alex, and I have the second project for GR1 to get to work on. I want to keep Sunday as my day off, since last week was so awesome.

Since the labs are so quiet for CRI1 though, I’m thinking of saving both the rigging, and drawing for tomorrow morning, and taking the rest of the night to finish off my few daily chores and to stitch more.

Maybe it would be best to block out the shapes for my assignment, and then call it a night. That way I can feel a little more productive. Not really sure.

All I know is today was a pretty awesome day, and that I’m hoping tomorrow is just as good.
