Post 0026: Brain Melting

Standard

I was dead when I got home yesterday, and yet I couldn’t sleep. It was so annoying. I had been fighting off a headache, which started turning into a migraine. I drank more water, took Advil and Nyquil, and waited for everything to kick in and knock me out so I could sleep through it.

So of course since I went to sleep so early I was awake at 3am this morning… Thanks universe. It’s not like I have to stay awake until 1am or anything for work…

Since I was awake I cross-stitched and listened to more of my book, Quiet. It’s super interesting so far. I have 3 more sections to get through. I tried going back to sleep, but that didn’t work, so I work my discussion post for my class, so that was done.

We had to talk about photo manipulation and if the artist ‘idealized’ human nature or ‘fragmented’ it (pointed out the flaws). I enjoyed it because I got to express my opinion on what the altered image symbolized. Fun times.

I’m pretty sure that my opinion is going to be way deeper than what most people are comfortable with, so I’m not thinking that I’ll get any replies to my post. Which is fine. I’ve gotten used to it over the past three months.

I tried going back to sleep again, which didn’t work, so I went to the gym instead.

I rowed and biked. Holy cow did rowing destroyed my pelvic floor muscles. It took me a while to be able to walk. I ran a loop around the track, but didn’t push too hard. Mostly because I was wearing sneakers rather than my running shoes, but I think my shins were happy about that.

After the gym I actually went to the Cady Way Trail part and sat outside to cross-stitch more. I know I have been stitching a lot recently. Part of me wonders if I should be doing something else with my time. Training videos, grading, research for DAD. I don’t know. Part of me feels guilty. But it was nice outside today. Super sunny without being too hot and there was a cool breeze, which was helping me cool off from the gym.

Fresh air and sunshine while working on a project and listening to music. The other half of my brain thinks that’s fine, and that I need down time. I’m getting things taken care of, lots more than I was in past months. And I never really get a full day off anymore. Only Sunday. So maybe having more down time during the week is my way of combating always being at school.

It’s something that I am meditating on. I do not want my hobby to become an escape, like video games. I don’t want it to be an addiction or coping mechanism.

I stitched until I got hungry, when came back home and ate, and finally was able to nap for a little bit before waking up to shower, eat, then come to school.

I tried calling to make an appointment to have my car looked at. Gordon, the guy who sold me my car, called and said that I’ve had the car about two months and that they wanted to offer to have the car looked over for free. All I had to do was bring it in.

I’m super happy with the car and it’s been doing great. Absolutely no complaints. But I want to take it in and have it looked over before I go home for Christmas break. I guess I called after hours though because no one picked up and I had to get back into lab. So that’s pushed until tomorrow.

Jarrett still doesn’t have my money, but his boss is looking into why the checks haven’t been dispersed yet. I know that it’s not his fault, and that if he had the money he would pay me back, but it is still frustrating.

The Bright House bill posted so I emailed both John and Jarrett about that. Nothing has been done with the accounts which adds to my frustration. John said he can have his share of the money no problem. We just need to find a time to meet up. So currently I’m waiting on a response from him to get that going. Jarrett I guess will pay me when he gets paid? Who knows.

One of my friends is looking to move to a different company and wanted me to recommend people to take his current position, so I’m tossing out 5 different names. Tre is one of them. I really think he would do fantastic no matter where he ends up. Even though he is still a student, he could totally do the work. I think if he bossed up on his scripting skills he would be fine.

But yet, I got all of that together for Mark. It’s gotten me back in touch with some people that I haven’t talked to in a while, which is good and nice.

The Avengers 2 trailer was leaked so we showed that in lab today. Fun times.

I had to do a super quick podcast for Nicole going over a script she sent me. Nothing much past that. Back to being tired and wondering how I’m going to make it through the next 3 hours.

I have code I could do, or working on the Blitz project, or stitching… Or wasting time on Pintrest again.

I’ve sort of been all over the place today so it doesn’t surprise me that I’m shot right now. I think a normal good nights rest is what I need.

Tomorrow I need to do the grading for Clavan. Like, no matter what it has to happen so get can have the grades for Friday. That’s a matter for tomorrow though. Right now I’m going to focus on not snoring and waffle facing on my keyboard.

A test of endurance.
